Now of course this is a new spin on an old observation:

A blindfolded monkey can make better stock picks than a human analyst...by throwing darts at a page of stock listings.

This of course is a jab in the ribs of the vast majority of stock pickers under-performing the market averages.

The problem is that a stock analyst will sit there and use traditional tools like P/E ratios -- just like everyone else that sat next to them in college.

How can you expect to be above average when you're using the same tools as your average trader?

I've pointed out before that people's problem isn't a lack of positive thinking -- it's that they're irrationally optimistic about themselves and their abilities.

I recommend reading The Optimism Bias to learn more.

When I got into trading, I quickly found out that I didn't know what I was doing even though I thought I knew what I was doing.

It was the Dunning-Kruger effect in spades.

Talk is cheap...the money circling the drain and out of my account was hard evidence that I sucked.

That's why I switched to evidence-based trading strategies.

Arguing with a computer has the same affect as me yelling at gravity in order to dunk a basketball.
