# Miscellaneous Tab

Open **Settings → Miscellaneous** for performance, testing, notification, tutorial, data and layout preferences. The sections below follow the groups on the current screen.

**On this page**

- [Caching](#caching)
- [Divine Engine queue preferences](#divine-engine)
- [Build readable result names](#name-template)
- [Interactivity and confirmations](#interactivity)
- [Notifications and cloud credits](#notifications)
- [Tutorial icons, data and layout](#tutorial-data-layout)

## Caching

The caching control sets how much of the **available physical memory** Portfolio Boss may use for its cache. The screen shows the corresponding amount of memory. Available memory is not the same as the computer’s total installed RAM, and the displayed amount depends on what else is running.

Adjust this with the rest of your workload in mind. A value shown in a screenshot is an example from that computer, not a requirement for your installation.

## Divine Engine queue preferences

| Preference | Effect |
| --- | --- |
| Show queue information dialog | Controls the explanatory dialog associated with queuing tests. |
| Automatically resume queue when application starts | Allows queued testing to resume when Portfolio Boss opens. Review this before restarting a computer with unfinished work. |
| Default result strategy name template | Supplies the initial naming template for new strategies. Each strategy can have its own template in **Backtest Parameterization**. Changing the global default does not mean every existing strategy has been renamed. |

Use [Divine Engine Test Management](https://portfolioboss.com/documentation/divine-engine-global-queue-for-strategy-testing/) for queue operation, and [Divine Engine Test Results](https://portfolioboss.com/documentation/divine-engine-test-results/) for reviewing and saving candidates.

## Build readable result names

Click **Add Variable** to insert a supported token rather than typing a guessed variable name. A useful name helps you recognize the baseline, instruments and test context later.

| Token | Information inserted |
| --- | --- |
| `%BaselineStrategy%` | Baseline strategy |
| `%Instr%` | Instrument |
| `%CashEqv%` | Cash-equivalent instrument |
| `%Year%` | Year |
| `%CAGR%`, `%Score%`, `%R²%`, `%MAR%`, `%Sharpe%`, `%PF%`, `%WinMonths%`, `%WinYears%` | The corresponding result metric |

For example, `%BaselineStrategy% - %Instr%/%CashEqv% - %Year%` combines the baseline, instrument pair and year. This is an example template, not a requirement. Tokens already present may be unavailable in the picker.

## Interactivity and confirmations

[![Interactivity controls and notifications, including low cloud-credit warnings in the application and by email.](https://portfolioboss.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pb72-notifications.png)](https://portfolioboss.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pb72-notifications.png)

- Show a confirmation before starting a **Divine Engine** test.
- Show a confirmation before starting a **manual** backtest.
- Automatically open a strategy after copying it.
- Automatically open a strategy after restoring it.

These controls affect prompts and navigation. They are separate from the strategy’s rules and the results of its tests.

## Notifications and cloud credits

- A warning when unused dynamic portfolios may require attention.
- A notification after a strategy is copied successfully.
- A low-credit notification when starting a cloud test, covering free or purchased cloud credits.
- An email notification for low cloud credits.

The cloud-credit email preference is separate from the Automation tab’s trading-dashboard notification switch. Review both if you want both kinds of notification.

## Tutorial icons, data and layout

[![Miscellaneous sections for tutorial icons, Yahoo instrument data and Reset Layout.](https://portfolioboss.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pb72-data-layout.png)](https://portfolioboss.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pb72-data-layout.png)
The lower sections cover help visibility, optional Yahoo data and panel layout recovery. [Click to enlarge.](https://portfolioboss.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/pb72-data-layout.png)

| Section | How to use it |
| --- | --- |
| Tutorial | Show or hide tutorial icons. **F2** also toggles these icons. |
| Data | The **Include Yahoo instrument data** option is accompanied by a notice that Yahoo data is not officially supported because an official API is unavailable. Do not treat this as a guaranteed data feed. |
| Layout | Use **Reset Layout** to restore the panel layout if panels have been moved or are difficult to find. This is the appropriate first step for a layout issue; deleting databases is not a routine layout fix. |
